Dental Implants

Dental implants offer an excellent solution for replacing one or more missing teeth. Because dental implants in Chelsea Heights restore your root and tooth, they're considered one of the best options for replacing your natural tooth.

Single-Tooth Replacement

If you're missing one tooth, our dentists will carefully place the titanium implant into your jawbone, where the implant will heal and integrate with your bone over time.

When it's fully healed, it is now ready to support a new tooth, a porcelain crown that attaches to it with an abutment. Our dentists design and customise a porcelain crown that complements your smile and blends seamlessly with your teeth.

Once your porcelain crown is placed, you're ready to enjoy eating, talking, and smiling with your new tooth!

All-on-X Dental Implants

If you are missing multiple teeth, whether it's a few or an entire arch, we may recommend dental implants to support a prosthetic to restore your smile. Your dentist will discuss your individual suitability and expected timelines.

Dental implants can anchor a bridge or a partial to replace multiple missing teeth. All-on-x treatment uses two to six dental implants to support a denture and restore an entire arch of teeth.

For qualified patients, temporary teeth may be fitted soon after surgery, so you don’t need to go without teeth during the initial healing period.

A dental implant needs a strong foundation of healthy bone to hold it in place. If you do not have enough bone in the area where the implant will be placed, the implant may be unstable or fail over time. Bone grafting helps rebuild that foundation before implant placement begins.

What Causes Jawbone Loss?

Bone loss can happen for several reasons. When a tooth is missing, the jawbone in that area begins to shrink because the tooth root is no longer stimulating it. Gum disease can also break down bone over time. In some cases, bone loss occurs after an injury or as a result of long-term denture wear.

What Happens During a Bone Graft?

During the procedure, your dentist places grafting material into the area where bone has been lost. Over the following months, your body gradually integrates the graft and builds new bone in that area. Once enough bone has developed, your dentist can move forward with placing the implant.

The healing period varies with the extent of the graft, but it typically takes several months for the site to be ready for an implant. Your Chelsea Heights dental team at A Plus Dental will monitor your healing and let you know when the next step can begin.
