Tooth emergencies are unexpected and inconvenient, and sometimes it's hard to know when you should contact your dentist. At A Plus Dental, we encourage our patients to contact us, even if they're unsure whether they're experiencing a dental emergency. Our team can assess your condition over the phone and provide the guidance you need to manage it until you see one of our dentists.
It also relieves some of the stress of the situation when you know what to do. So, today we'll share information about some of the tooth emergencies we handle and what you can do before visiting our Chelsea Heights dental clinic.
Dental Emergencies at A Plus Dental
Our dentists are well equipped to handle a wide range of tooth emergencies, such as:
- Chipped or broken teeth — Bring the pieces of your broken tooth with you if you can. Even if your tooth is just chipped, it may need smoothing to ensure it doesn't cause discomfort to your cheeks and soft tissues.
- Knocked-out (avulsed) teeth — A knocked-out tooth needs assessment immediately. The quicker we can treat it, the better our chances are of saving it. Handle the tooth with care and avoid touching the roots. Place it back in its socket if you can. Otherwise, use milk or saliva to keep it moist while you transport it to our dental clinic.
- Toothaches or dental pain — A severe and constant toothache typically indicates an infection. Unfortunately, a tooth infection won't clear up without dental treatment, so don't wait to contact your Chelsea Heights emergency dentist.
- Lost or broken restorations — If you lose a dental filling or crown, it will need repair or replacement to avoid causing further damage or discomfort.
We welcome your call to A Plus Dental if you or a loved one is experiencing a dental emergency. We make every effort to see our emergency patients promptly and provide same-day treatment if possible.
